I chose to take photos of the State Theater because it is an important part of downtown Ann Arbor. I wanted to show something about where I have lived my whole life and I thought the bright colors of the sign would invoke the happiness and love of the town. I tried to capture different angles of the sign to show different perspectives. In each picture I specifically tried to capture the essence of the big sign. I also tried to capture the different textures of the building, if you really look you can find many different ones!
I chose to take photos of this building in the Diag because I thought it had an interesting design. I tried to get reflections in the windows because it adds more to the pictures. I took pictures of this building also because it brought in the nature around it. You can see the trees and sky in the reflections in the windows and also has trees surrounding it. In the first picture I tried to capture the interesting and unique doorway which gives it personality.
I took pictures of Nickel's Arcade because the architecture is old fashioned and really pretty. I took pictures of the tall columns in the front because it is the first it is the first thing you see when look at it. The architecture near the top are very intricate and I tried to show that in my pictures. When you walk through the arcade there are long hanging lights and an open roof which bring a bright, happy vibe to the area which I showed in the first picture. Nickel's arcade is a very inviting area which I wanted to capture in my pictures.
I decided to take pictures of the Ann Arbor Water Treatment Plant because the design is very interesting and it is important to our city. My dad runs the plant and so I have an emotional attachment to the building and I have lots of memories with it. The trees in front of the building bring in a sense of liveliness. The building is old and parts of it look somewhat run down but it shows the homeliness and emotion that goes along with it. I tried to get the different angles of the building and show the bricks and cracks.
I took pictures of this cabin because it brings me back to the summer. I stayed in this cabin with my family during Camp Michigania. The rail on the porch draws your eyes up to the sky which I tried to capture. The cabin is brown but with the nature around it still has liveliness and color. The old wood and porch chairs show the craftiness of camp.
